Cardiovascular Services

A hummingbird’s heart beats over 1,000 times a minute.

At Southern Hills Hospital, our devoted cardiologists provide high quality cardiovascular care, including heart attack treatment and heart surgery services.

Is it indigestion or a heart attack? A heart attack occurs when blood flow to the heart muscle is interrupted. Oxygen is unable to flow to the heart muscle, causing tissue damage or tissue death. It's critical to know how to care for your heart before the attack happens.

The Southern Hills Cardiovascular Department offers an accredited Chest Pain Center, which means we are able to treat patients suffering from a heart attack or stroke. If you feel pain or tightness in your chest, we are equipped to provide in-depth heart care.

The Chest Pain Center at Southern Hills Hospital has demonstrated its expertise and commitment to quality patient care by meeting or exceeding a wide set of stringent criteria and completing on-site evaluations by a review team from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.

Our cardiovascular program includes a range of cardiology services including stenting, EKG, stress tests and more.

Play it Safe

The Chest Pain Centers at Southern Hills, Sunrise and MountainView hospitals have demonstrated their expertise and commitment to quality patient care by meeting or exceeding a wide set of stringent criteria and completing on-site evaluations by a review team from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. Key areas in which a Chest Pain Center must demonstrate expertise include:

  • Integrating the emergency department with the local emergency medical system
  • Assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients quickly
  • Effectively treating patients with low risk for acute coronary syndrome and no assignable cause for their symptoms
  • Continually seeking to improve processes and procedures
  • Ensuring Chest Pain Center personnel competency and training
  • Maintaining organizational structure and commitment
  • Having a functional design that promotes optimal patient care
  • Supporting community outreach programs that educate the public to promptly seek medical care if they display symptoms of a possible heart attack

Each Sunrise Health facility has earned full accreditation status from the Accreditation Review Committee. Re-accreditation is in progress.
